Keep Things In Perspective!

Tuesday, February 28th, 2023

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  In our lives, there are times when we desire to be left alone.  No disrespect to anyone else, but sometimes you want to have some “alone” time.  Time where you can rest and be restored.  Time that you desire to spend uninterrupted with the Lord.  Have you ever found yourself overwhelmed with the responsibilities of life?  From the time you awake, until the time you sleep, you are on your feet attempting to keep things under control.  It seems as though everything and everyone depends on you for guidance.  Pressure on every side.  You feel stressed and strained.  Have you ever tried to vacate the premises but someone found you?  You tried to take a vacation but the phone continued to ring.  You turned off the phone but they still found you.  Where do you go for refuge?  Have you been there?  Are you there now?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  Somewhere along the way we have lost control of our lives.  Our circumstances have begun to dictate our behavior and moods.  You have become consumed by the opinions of your peers.  Your priorities have begun to fall apart.  Throughout the week, you look forward to Friday but during the weekend you dread Sunday evenings.  Your job has become your god.  Your business deals have become more important than your family.  Where have you gone wrong?  My friend, Keep Things In Perspective!  The Bible declares in Exodus 34:14 – For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:  While God has blessed you with abundance, He does not want you to glorify the blessings but the Blesser (which is Him.)  When your eyes open to a brand new day, what are usually thinking about first?  Throughout your day, what keeps you excited?  Who do you live your life to please?  During your day, when do you focus on the Lord?

My brother, my sister, Keep Things In Perspective!  Do not allow life to control what you do and how you do it.  God should always remain your primary contact.  The Bible declares in Revelation 2:4 – Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.  Beloved, resting is not a sin, laziness is.  Spending time with your family is needed.  The church will go on without you.  A mental rest day is necessary from time to time.  The job can survive one day without you.  Stop thinking the show cannot go on without you.  God has called you to live for Him.  The same joy and love you have for co-workers, should be the same joy and love you have at home.  Keep Things In Perspective!  God did not create you to be Him.  He is God not you.  Re-focus yourself today.  Spend time with the ones you love.  Do not wait until tragedy hits.  Prayer for Today: Father, show me where I have lost focus.  You are God not me.  Allow me to do the best I can and leave the rest to you.  Help me keep things in perspective.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Turn Your Worry Into Worship!

Monday, February 27th, 2023

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever found yourself consumed by thoughts of worry and fear?  No matter what the situation may be, you always worry about things you cannot control.  You worry about people’s opinions.  You worry about backlash from church members.  You worry about being rejected by your family.  Have you ever allowed worry to interrupt your sleep?  While everyone else in the house is sleep you are walking the floors.  You began to have panic attacks.  Now you desire to stay in the house all day (you were known for being an outsider and an outgoing person).  When was the last time you found yourself worried about bill payments, friend’s acceptance, ministerial approval, or employment ratings?  Many times in our lives the things we focus our attention on are things that bring no glory to God.  It’s usually things that we cannot control or change by ourselves.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister.  When I was growing up, my aunt shared an important phrase with me.  The phrase said: If You’re Going to Pray, Why Worry, and If You’re Going to Worry, Why Pray?  Today, I share this same phrase with you.  Do you not know that God sees all and knows all?  The matters you worry about are minor to the Lord.  The things that keep you stressed out, depressed, and oppressed are used by the enemy to keep you in bondage.  My friend, Turn Your Worry Into Worship!  Worrying is sin.  It is a statement to God that you do not believe He can handle it.  The Bible declares in Matthew 6:31-32 – Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your Heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.  Isn’t it amazing how God knows what you need before you begin to worry about it?  Provision was made before you recognized a shortage.

My brother, my sister, what are you worried about today?  Who are you worried about today?  Have you surrendered it unto the Lord?   Turn Your Worry Into Worship!  Learn how to overtake your worrying thoughts with worship to the Lord.  God can and will do it, but you must believe it.  The enemy will do all he can to hinder you.  Traps will be sent.  Uneasy thoughts will attack your mind.  The Bible declares in Luke 12:29 – And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.  Beloved, you were not created to doubt.  God would not choose you if He did not plan to use you.  Turn Your Worry Into Worship!  Think of the things that consume your thoughts.  Think of the concerns you have this morning.  Has your relationships and friendships experienced road-blocks because of your constant worrying?  Are you a slave to a worrying mind?  The Bible declares in John 4:24 – God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.  Child of God, your worship tells God He is greater than your worries.  Prayer for Today: Father, forgive me for allowing worry to consume me. I know you have a purpose for me. Today I worship with complete trust. In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Are You Grateful That God Is Faithful?

Friday, February 24th, 2023

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever known someone who never appeared to be grateful for anything or anyone?  No matter what anyone did for this person, they always wanted more and more.  Even if you gave your last to this person, (s)he expected you to perform a miracle because (s)he wanted more.  Have you ever known a person who could never allow you to forget the mistakes you committed in your past?  Every chance (s)he gets, (s)he has to remind you of things you once did.  It could be ten years later and this person still desires to pull from the past.  Have you ever had a person say, “I forgive you” but their actions seem to say just the opposite.  With words they said one thing, but with action they said something totally different.  Have you ever been there?  Are you there now?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  I am so glad the Lord is not like man.  I am so glad that when God forgives, He truly forgives (Psalms 103:12).  I am so glad the Lord has looked beyond our faults and saw our needs.  In seeing our needs, He noticed how much we needed Him.  My friend, Are You Grateful That God Is Faithful?  Do you appreciate what the Master has done for you?  Many people have given up on you.  Many people counted you out years ago.  Each time you were left for dead it was the Lord who brought life back into your body.  The Bible declares in Lamentations 3:22-23 – It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.  How many people can you actually say are faithful toward you?  When things appear impossible in your life, how many faithful people can you call on?  Are You Grateful That God Is Faithful?  (Faithful – steadfast in allegiance or affection; loyal)

My brother, my sister, the Bible declares in Psalms 89:1 – I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations.  Beloved, it was the Lord’s faithfulness that enabled you to keep going when your flesh said give up.  It was the Lord’s faithfulness that cared for you when friends and family could not be found.  It is the Lord’s faithfulness that keeps you in the middle of your test and trials.  It is the Lord’s faithfulness that prevents the enemy from overtaking you.  It is the Lord’s faithfulness that protects you when traps have been set against you.   Are You Grateful That God Is Faithful?  The Bible declares in Psalms 36:5 – Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and Thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.  Child of God, the Lord is faithfulness when you are not.  Today, you should be grateful that the Lord is faithful toward you.  Prayer for Today: Father, I thank you for being faithful toward me. I truly appreciate you.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

You Can Make It Through This!

Thursday, February 23rd, 2023

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever been told by a friend or family member that you would never amount to anything?  They looked you right in your eyes and spoke death to you.  With no regret or guilt, they attempted to destroy you and your dreams.  Have you ever had your dream(s) laughed at by people who had no faith?  You took it upon yourself to review your dreams to everyone you knew.  By doing this you assumed everyone would support and pray for you.  To your surprise it was just the opposite.  More people spoke against your dreams than for it.  A close friend of mine told me to beware of dream killers and dream stealers.  Today I tell you the same thing.  Have you ever felt the desire to give up?  Your hope was slowly fading away.  What you once believed has begun to change.  When was the last time you encouraged yourself in the Lord?  In spite of what was said or done, you told yourself it could be done.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  The Lord is aware of the lies spoken to you by the enemy.  Do you not know that the enemy is the father of lies (John 8:44)?  There is no truth found within him.  Whatever he has said to you is false and you should not believe one word of it.  My friend, You Can Make It Through This!  If the Lord has said or promised anything to you, rest on it.  There is no storm, no dilemma, and no tragedy that can hinder the Lord from bringing His promises to pass.  The Bible declares in Numbers 23:19 – God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?   If there was anyone you could trust in, it would have to be the Lord.  Check His résumé.  You will notice He is qualified for the job.  Child of God, the Lord would not bring you this far to leave you for dead.  You Can Make It Through This!  There is a purpose behind everything God allows (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

My brother, my sister, have you given up?  Are you falling apart this morning?  Do you still have the hope to believe?  Have you surrendered the victory over to the enemy?  Tragedies will come.  Storms will rise.  Traps will be set against.  Lies will be spread.  Rumors will travel.  Enemies will come.  Demons will attack.  Beloved, You Can Make It Through This!  The Bible declares in Romans 8:31 – What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?  The thing you face today was destroyed when Christ died on the Cross.  The enemy is fighting you because he does not want you to walk in the victory Christ won for you.  Dear friend, after you have cried what are you going to do next?  You must get back up.  You must fight back.  You cannot quit now.  Your promises shall come to pass (2 Corinthians 1:20).  Put your hand on your chest and declare to yourself … You Can Make It Through This! Prayer for Today: Father, All I have is my faith in You.  Everything else will fade away.  Today, I rest in the assurance that I can make it through this.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

God Knows What He Is Doing!

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  When was the last test you faced?  A test that dropped you to your knees.  A test that caused tears to run down your face.  A test that forced you to do a self-evaluation.  When was the last time you experienced a divine encounter with the Lord?  The time when danger surrounded you and the Lord intervened just in time.  The time when it appeared impossible but the Lord made a way for you.  When was the last time you walked the floors worrying about bill payments, marital problems, or ministerial decisions?  The time when worry robbed you of your sleep but the Lord reminded you again that He was a faithful God.  The time when divorced consumed your thoughts but God stepped in and changed your heart and thoughts.  The time when you felt like walking away from ministry but the Lord reminded you that He was the one who called you.  Do you recall these experiences?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  Do you ever think back over your life?  The trials and tribulations God brought you through.  The unwise and unprayerful decisions God protected you from.  The traps and snares God exposed for you.  Isn’t it amazing how the Lord continues to watch your back when friends promise they will?  Isn’t it amazing how we continue to doubt God’s work in our lives because it feels uncomfortable?  My friend, God Knows What He Is Doing!  There are no mistakes in the Lord.  Your life was planned and purposed before your parents knew each other.  The Bible declares in Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  God has walked out each of your steps.  Even when you made wrong turns, God used them for the good (Romans 8:28).  God Knows What He Is Doing!  He is aware of all the unbelievers surrounding you.  He knows many do not believe it can be done.  Do you?

My brother, my sister, do you still believe God knows what He is doing in your life?  Do you still trust Him with your life?  The Bible declares in Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.  God Knows What He Is Doing!  He has not lost control of the plans He created for your life.  Beloved, it is time for you to fully stand on the Lord’s Word.  Wavering back and forth makes you indecisive (James 1:6).  Delayed obedience still makes you disobedient (Isaiah 1:19).  When was the last time you said, “Yes, Lord I will!”  The last time you committed your will to His Will.  God Knows What He Is Doing!  Your current pain, burdens, turmoil, or fears are not hidden from the Lord.  He knows what He is doing in you, allow Him the chance to bring it to pass.  Prayer for Today: Father, I know You know what is best for me and my life.  Forgive me when I doubted.  Have Your own way, I know You know what you are doing.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

“Lord, I Thank You!”

Tuesday, February 21st, 2023

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  When was the last time you put your pride aside to assist someone in need?  So often during our daily journeys we encounter people who need an encouraging word, or a nice friendly smile, or a listening ear.  When was the last time you used your blessings to bless someone else?  You do realize what the Lord gave to you is not for you alone … right?  God will send blessings to you that they may go through you for someone else.  When was the last time you told your friends and family ‘Thank You?’  You thanked them for being who they are in your life.  You thanked them for uplifting you in prayer.  You thanked them for never giving up on you.  When was the last time you looked up to heaven and offered God an awesome praise?  A praise from deep down within.  A praise of gratitude, appreciation, and thanksgiving.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  Think about all you have been through in your life.  Think about the roller coaster ride you experienced while dating certain people.  Think about the despair and discouraging nights you endured.  Think about the many tears you cried, or the love ones you buried.  After all you have been through in life, the Lord has still been faithful.  My friend, when was the last time you said, “Lord, I Thank You!”  The Bible declares in Psalms 100:4 – Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.  It was the Lord who stood by you when depression and loneliness attempted to consume your body.  It was the Lord who defended you against the warfare of the enemy.  It was the Lord who protected you against the traps sent to destroy you.  You need to open your mouth this morning and say, “Lord, I Thank You!”  The Bible declares in Psalms 69:30 – I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.

My brother, my sister, having friends is a wonderful blessing.  Having family is even better.  But, to know that the Lord is faithfully watching over you is overwhelming.  Friends and family come and go.  Depending on how they feel will determine if they help you out or not.  If things are going well for them, they’re wonderful to be around.  If not, they are the last people you want to surround yourself with.  Not the Lord!  The Bible declares in Lamentations 3:22-23 – It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.  “Lord, I Thank You!”  I thank you for loving me when I did not love myself.  I thank you for putting up with my multiple attitudes.  I thank you for sending your only begotten Son to die for my sins.  Thank you for teaching me how to love others.  Beloved, when was the last time you made the time to tell the Lord thank you?  When was the last time you expressed your gratitude to the Lord?  I charge you, start right now.  Prayer for Today: Father, I come this morning to tell you thank you.  I love and truly appreciate You.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

I Declare (Decree) Unto You!

Monday, February 20th, 2023

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  This morning, the Lord pressed it upon my heart to do something different.  Instead of sending a devotional, the Lord has commissioned me to declare His blessings over your life.  On today, I Declare (Decree) Unto You!  The Bible declares in Job 22:28 – Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

My brother, my sister, I Declare (Decree) Unto You:

  • That the peace of God will enter into your mind and destroy all confusion sent by the enemy; (Philippians 4:7)
  • That the joy of the Lord is your strength; (Nehemiah 8:10)

  • That your are no longer a victim but a victor in Jesus’ name; (I John 4:4)
  • That He which has begun a good work in you will complete it in you; (Philippians 1:6)
  • That you can do all things through Christ which strengthens you; (Philippians 4:13)
  • That your God shall supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory; (Philippians 4:19)
  • That the lies of man have no power over your life; (Psalm 110:1)
  • That the generational curses in your life are broken from your life; (Matthew 11:29)
  • That your finances are pressed, shaken together and running over with abundance; (Luke 6:38)
  • That you are blessed to be a blessing; (Hebrews 6:14)
  • That you are fearfully and wonderfully made by the hand of God; (Psalm 139:14)
  • That you are free to praise the Lord;  (Psalm 150:6)
  • That you have the authority to bind every demon and ungodly spirit.  (Matthew 16:19)

Today, I ask that you recite this to yourself (as I have done to myself) and share it with your e-mail buddies.  Beloved, walk in what God promised you.

May God Bless you at Your point of need!

Will What You Ask God For Bring Him Glory?

Friday, February 17th, 2023

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  When was the last time you overwhelmed your problems with praise to God?  Times when you take your attention off of the problems surrounding you and offer total praise to the God who can bring you through.  When was the last time you opened your mouth to bless God and not to complain to Him?  Times when you thank Him for who He is and all He has done.  It is easy to complain when things are not going the way you would hope.  It is easy to gripe and moan about what you do not have but someone else does.  How often do you praise God for blessing someone else?  You do realize God is pleased when we are able to celebrate with our brothers and sisters?  If you can praise God for what He has done for others, then you are displaying to God how much you believe He can do the same for you.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  When someone around you receives a blessing from the Lord, how does it make you feel?  When a friend gets what you have been praying for, how do you react?  Are you filled with anger and jealousy when a family member experiences God’s overflow?  Many times in life the thing(s) we ask God for do not come when we desire for them to come.  Sometimes we find ourselves surrounded by people who are being blessed with abundance while we are waiting in anticipation.  My friend, whatever the case may be, there’s a question you must answer.  Will What You Ask God For Bring Him Glory?  Is God’s glory your primary reason for asking?  Will your request cause people to praise God or praise you?  The Bible declares in 1 Corinthians 10:31 – Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.  In all that we do, the glory of God should be our top priority.  The applauds of man are temporary.  The same ones who cheer for you today, could be the same ones who scorn you tomorrow.

My brother, my sister, Will What You Ask God For Bring Him Glory?  Are you asking because someone else has it or do you want it to edify the body of Christ?  Will your request bless the people of God or just you?  Is your request only for increasing your bank account or for supplying meat in the house of God?  The Bible declares in Colossians 3:23 – And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;  Beloved, your place of employment is for more than a biweekly or monthly paycheck.  God does not need your job to bless you.  He also has you there to be a light shining for Him.  Your complaining dampens the brightest of your light (Philippians 2:14).  Will What You Ask God For Bring Him Glory?  Each time you ask God to do something on your behalf, ask yourself why you want it done.  Prayer for Today: Father, in all that I do and with all that I ask for, please let my request bring glory to Your name.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Do Not Bow To The Enemy!

Thursday, February 16th, 2023

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  When was the last time you took a stand against wicked devices?  The times when church members and family members engaged in destructive gossip, what did you do about it?  The times when unrighteousness was occurring at your place of employment, what did you say about it?  Do people flock to you with the latest rumors?  Many time those who gossip and spread rumors only go to those who enjoy hearing it.  Are you one?  Have you declared Christ as the head of your life?  Is He in total control of your comings and goings?  When was the last time you told someone about the goodness of Jesus Christ?  Are you ashamed?  Are you afraid?  Is the enemy trying to make you bow?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister.  So often in our lives we see many people compromise their walk with the Lord for momentary recognition or acceptance by friends.  We watch many people lose their blessings because they partner with people who did not fear the Lord.  We know people who have walked away from the church and fellowship with the Lord because the world appeared more glorious.  There are members of our family that refuse to confess Christ as their Savior because they believe all Christians are hypocrites.  You have debated and pleaded with them.  No change.  Have you been there?  Are you there now?  My friend, Do Not Bow To The Enemy!  The Bible declares in Daniel 3:10-11 – Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image: 11 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.  As the three Hebrew boys, you must bow to no other gods (Exodus 20:3).

My brother, my sister, it does not matter how wonderful this world appears.  It does not matter what promises the enemy has issued (John 8:44).  Do Not Bow To The Enemy!  You must remain stedfast and unmoveable in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58).  Beloved, there is only one God to bow down before … the all True and Living God.  The Bible declares in Psalms 95:6 – O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.  We are the creation of God.  We have been designed to offer Him daily praise and sincere worship.  He has given us a heart to know Him (Jeremiah 24:7).  Do Not Bow To The Enemy!  The Bible declares in Matthew 6:24 – No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.  Has the enemy been tempting you with unfulfilled promises?  Are you enticed by his lies?  Are you his pawn?  Have you bowed to the enemy?  I pray you have not.  Prayer for Today: Father, I realize the enemy desires to make me bow before him.  As your child, I submit myself totally to you and no one else.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Whatever You Do, Never Stop Praying!

Wednesday, February 15th, 2023

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  When was the last time you prostrated yourself in the presence of God?  I mean fully stretched out in humble submission and worship.  When was the last time you stayed in your secret place until you heard from the Lord?  Many times we enter into prayer with one agenda … dominating the conversation.  We vent and release all of our cares but we usually do not leave with what the Lord intended to give us.  We are quick to speak but slow to listen (James 1:19).  When was the last time you interceded for someone else’s situation?  A time when you went before the Lord because your brother or sister was in need of God’s intervention.  A time when you stood in the gap for the life and soul of your neighbor.  How often do you pray in a day (1 Thessalonians 5:17)?  Are your prayers influenced by tragedy or covenant relationship?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  I know how it feels to be overwhelmed with life’s problems and the assignment on your life.  Giving up is easy.  Many times you are hanging on by a wing and a prayer.  Your spirit is willing but your flesh is weak.  Have you been there?  Are you there now?  My friend, Whatever You Do, Never Stop Praying!  Do not allow your current dilemma to force you away from conversation with God.  The enemy would love to see that take place.  The Bible declares in Matthew 6:6 – But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.  You are designed to commune with the Lord.  Many of our problems derive out of our lack of prayer.  We start out praying often, but when things are going well we slowly decrease in our prayers.  Do you not know God desires to converse with you always, not just when you are in trouble?  Whatever You Do, Never Stop Praying!

My brother, my sister, has your prayer life slowly diminished?  Have you replaced your prayers to God with telephone calls to friends and family?  The Bible declares in Philippians 4:6 – Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  Beloved, challenges will come.  The enemy will try all he can to tempt you and draw you away from the Lord’s will.  Whatever You Do, Never Stop Praying!  Do not cease in seeking after the Lord.  There are many traps, which the enemy set against you that God has exposed because you remained in fellowship with Him.  There are many wolves in sheep’s clothing God allowed you to discern because you remained in communion with Him.  The Bible charges us to always pray.  When rising in the morning.  While getting dressed.  When driving to and from work.  When cleaning our homes or paying our bills.  Whatever You Do, Never Stop Praying! Prayer for Today: Father, today I uphold my convenant with you.  I will remain in constant conversation with you.  When I speak you always listen, now it is time for me to listen when you speak, in Jesus’ name … Amen!
