Title Seeker or God Pleaser?

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever known someone who always wanted to be in the spotlight?  No matter what the occasion pertained to, this person had to be in the limelight.  Even if it meant hurting someone, this person would do whatever it took to be seen and heard.  Have you ever had to work with a person like this?  Maybe at church or at work.  This person would allow you to do all the work but they wanted all the credit.  For some reason this person has the strange idea that always being out front is wonderful.  Do you realize being placed before the people requires a great responsibility … especially when you are doing it for the Lord?  Fasting, praying, obeying, trusting, seeking, denying, are requirements.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  My friend, are you a Title Seeker or God Pleaser?  When people ask for your assistance, do you offer it because you love the Lord or because you desire to be seen?  Is your heart yearning to please the Lord or gather as many titles as possible?  Many times in life people will cut you at the throat just to have the opportunity of being out front.  Whatever it takes, their going to do it.  Lie, cheat, deceive, manipulate, scam, compromise, whatever it takes.  The Bible declares in Matthew 6:5 – And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.  As much as I love ministering to God’s people, it will never measure up to how much I love the Lord.

My brother, my sister, what about you?  Are you a Title Seeker or God Pleaser?  When people evaluate your ministry, can they tell you desire to please the Lord?  Can they see your zeal for the Lord Jesus Christ?  Are you in it for the money or the ministry?  Are you easily angered when someone does not call you by your title?  Beloved, do you realize when we get to Heaven, our titles will remain here on earth?  God will not say, “Pastor such and such, enter in.”  No, no, no!  According to Matthew 25:21 – His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.  This morning, check your motives.  Evaluate yourself.  Can you be effective for the glory of God with or without the title?  Prayer for Today: Father, allow my heart to always desire to please you and not seek titles and positions.  In the name of Jesus … Amen!

Scripture Reading for Today: Luke 13:27

May God Bless you at Your point of need!
