Who Do You Stand For?

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever felt tempted to do what you knew was wrong?  Within your spirit you knew the Lord would not be pleased but you contemplated doing it anyway.  You knew the outcome could ruin you and bruise your family.  Have you ever said ‘yes’ to something when ‘no’ was the response you should have given?  Now that you have given your response you regret it everyday.  You heard the Lord clearly tell you not to do it or say it.  Even when you gave the response there was no peace.  Your response came at your request to belong or be accepted.  When was the last time you spoke up against unrighteousness?  I am not talking about judging but correcting.  Turning your back from sin and acting as if it is not happening does not excuse you.  If your brother or sister has fallen into sin, trying to assist them with a cover-up does not eliminate the problem.  God sees all.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  My friend, Who Do You Stand For? – God?  What do you stand for? – Righteousness?  What are you standing on? – The Word of God?  In life, we must commit ourselves to upholding what is right in the sight of God.  We must learn to operate in accordance to the Word of God.  We must live to obey and glorify the Almighty God.  The Bible declares in Matthew 12:50 – For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.  To be a child of God is an awesome privilege.  What great benefits we enjoy.  However, for every great thing comes great responsibility.  We can no longer act how we want, when we want, where we want.  We must set the examples on our jobs, in our homes, at our churches (yes, even at church), within our communities.  No longer can we proclaim Christ alone.  We must also live for Christ and act like Christ.  Who Do You Stand For?  Are you easily swayed by the world (Luke 9:62)?  Are you quick to return to sinful pleasures?

My brother, my sister, a close friend of mine often says, if you do not stand for something, you will fall for anything.  This is a true statement for each of us.  Who Do You Stand For?  The Bible declares in Joshua 24:15 – And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.  Beloved, you must make a decision for your life.  Will you live everyday for the Lord?  Will you work to uphold the commandments of Jesus (Matthew 22:37-40)?  Will you strive to treat your neighbor with love (1 John 4:20)?  Who Do You Stand For? Prayer for Today: Father, today I commit myself to live a life that is pleasing to you.  I commit to stand for what you commanded.  Help me uphold this covenant.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!
