Darrick D. McGhee, Sr. is a dynamic and multifaceted leader whose influence spans ministry, government, business, and community engagement.
A gifted communicator and writer, Darrick has faithfully produced weekday devotionals since 2003 through his platform, Meditation Moments by Pastor Darrick D. McGhee, Sr. Through his writing, he encourages, challenges, and nurtures spiritual growth in readers across his website and social media platforms.
He is the Founding Pastor of Bible Based Church in Tallahassee, Florida, established in 2010. With more than 26 years of preaching and ministry experience, Darrick has dedicated his life to shepherding others. Prior to founding Bible Based Church, he served as Associate Pastor at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, where he provided pastoral care, ministerial leadership, and oversight of youth, collegiate, and young adult ministries.
In addition to his pastoral calling, Darrick is a seasoned government and business leader. He currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of Johnson & Blanton, LLC, bringing over 25 years of experience in state government and politics. His distinguished public service includes serving as Director of Legislative Affairs in the Executive Office of Governor Rick Scott, where he played a key role in advancing legislative priorities and advising on complex policy matters. He has also held senior leadership roles within the Department of Economic Opportunity (now FloridaCommerce), including Interim Executive Director, Chief of Staff, and Director of Legislative and Cabinet Affairs.
Throughout his career, Darrick has served as Legislative Affairs Director for multiple state agencies, including the Departments of Education, Business and Professional Regulation, and Elder Affairs. His work has spanned three gubernatorial administrations, reflecting both his expertise and trusted leadership.
As an entrepreneur, Darrick is the President and CEO of Strategic Inflection Point, LLC, a professional development firm specializing in executive coaching, leadership development, public speaking, and strategic advisory services.
He is also an engaging voice in digital media, hosting and co-hosting three podcasts: Conversations with The Covenant Brothers, Just the 2 of Us (with his wife), and Leadership Matters, where he shares insights on faith, relationships, and leadership.
Darrick is a devoted husband to his college sweetheart and a proud father of two children. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Religion from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU).
Deeply committed to community service, he currently serves on several boards, including Bible Based Church (ex-officio), The Children’s Movement, the Florida Education Foundation (where he chairs the Fundraising Committee), and the Florida Gubernatorial Fellows Program. His past service includes appointments to the Florida Commission on Human Relations (where he served as chair), the 2nd Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, and the United Way of the Big Bend.
His contributions have earned him numerous honors, including recognition as a Top 25 Lobbyist by Florida Standard (2022), one of the Most Influential People in Florida Politics by INFLUENCE Magazine, and recipient of multiple leadership and community impact awards.
