It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God. Have you ever met someone who acted as if life could not go on without them? They think the church service cannot start unless they are there to do praise service, the opening prayer, or devotion. They think the meeting cannot start until they make their grand entrance. They think your life will now end because they no longer want to be with you. Have you ever interacted with self-righteous people? People who have “never” done anything wrong. People who have never thought anything wrong, experienced anything wrong, or engaged in anything wrong. People who act as if they were born tongue talking and sin-free. People who hold their nose in the air as if your life is the only thing that stinks. Do you know anyone like this?
This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you. One of the most difficult things to see is redeemed Christians acting as if they have never done anything wrong. I find it amazing when I over-hear people conversing about other people. I find it amazing and at times I have been guilty of doing it. We spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, and even months talking about someone without ever doing a personal evaluation of ourselves. During my time of prayer, worship, and repentance, I have been instructed by the Lord to talk about this matter in today’s devotional. My friend, Can You See Your Reflection In The Mirror? The Bible declares in James 1:23-25 – For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
My brother, my sister, be careful not to think you are better than the person next to you. Be careful not to walk around as if you are not a target of the devil. Just because you are enjoying peaceful days does not mean your days of spiritual warfare are over. Every time you look in the mirror there should be something about you that needs improvement. There should be something about you that keeps you at the feet of Jesus. Beloved, Can You See Your Reflection In The Mirror? Can you see the real you? Beyond all of the makeup, masks you have worn and the titles you have acquired, can you see who you really are? Beyond the applauds of man, can you see who you really are? I am concerned we have become believers of our own press, which has caused us to become proud instead of humble. The Bible declares in 1 Corinthians 13:12 – For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
