Don’t Be A Hindrance But A Blessing!

Monday, November 30th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever watched the way some people treat other people?  Sometimes people can be very rude and nasty.  Sometimes people treat others like slaves and peasants.  They talk to them any kind of way.  Respect and love are never shown.  Have you ever listened to two people who were in conflict about something or someone?  Its always the other person’s fault.  No one wants to admit their wrong.  Their way is the only way that’s right.  Many times in our lives, we want God to bless us but we refuse to bless others.  So often we fail to realize the power invested within us.  We think of blessings as materialistic or monetary.  When you speak to a person in love, that’s a blessing.  When you greet someone with a sincere hug, that’s a blessing.  When you treat someone the way you want to be treated, that’s a blessing.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  Do you not know God can see everything you do (omni-present)?  Do you not know God can hear everything you say?  When you ask God to bless you in a specific way, He is able to do that and more.  However, you must also understand God does not bless evil.  When you treat His children in an evil and devilish way, He will not bless you with more.  My friend, Don’t Be A Hindrance But A Blessing!  Be the person who speaks life.  Be the person who displays the glory of God wherever you go.  The Bible declares in Matthew 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.  The worse thing to see is a nasty and evil Believer.  A person who confesses Christ with their mouth, but acts like the devil.  Each day, there are a number of people who come into your presence.  They either work with you, live by you, attend church with you, or interact with you by e-mail and telephone.  Don’t Be A Hindrance But A Blessing!

My brother, my sister, you are chosen to reflect the glory of God.  You are hand-selected to represent Christ.  You are an Ambassador.  The Bible declares in Luke 6:38 - Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.  Beloved, think about the lives you could impact for the Kingdom of God if you would become determined to bless everyone you meet.  Don’t Be A Hindrance But A Blessing!  Can God count on you to be the best representative?  Can God trust you with the blessings He pours in your hands?  Today, you should make it your point to bless every person you see through your smile, a nice e-mail, or a simple phone call.  Do not allow your flesh to hinder your spirit from blessing others.  Prayer for Today: Father, help me become a blessing to everyone and not a hindrance.  Help me reflect Your glory and represent Your Kingdom.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Looks Can Be Deceiving!

Friday, November 27th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Many times in life, we experience seasons of ups and downs.  There are times when things seem so horrible, and then there are times when everything you touch blossoms.  Some times there are days and nights that you would love to overlook; then there are days and nights that you would love to last forever.  So often, there are phone calls and doctor visits you would love to avoid or forget; but on the other hand, there are memories and events you wish could happen again.  Have you ever found yourself looking at a picture and you began to visualize yourself involved in the scenery?  It could be a picture or painting of Hawaii or someone driving a luxury vehicle.  Out of no where you begin to say, “Oh what I would do for a chance to be there or have that!”  Have you ever felt the grass was greener on the other side than it was in your yard?  Your eyes can only see the outward appearance (1 Samuel 16:7).

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  My friend, Looks Can Be Deceiving!  When you look at someone else’s situation, many times you either feel good about yours or feel awful.  Have you ever compared your life to that of someone else?  Your success story was based on what you had and others did not.  Be careful!  The blessings you enjoy today were not given for you to boast or compete, but for you to glorify the name of the Lord.  Jesus did not die for you to die, but He died so that you could live (John 10:10).  The Bible declares in Galatians 6:7 - Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.  Do not think because a person has a nice home, a nice car, great salary, beautiful children, wonderful spouse and a gorgeous smile that their life is worth having.  Looks Can Be Deceiving!  On the outside, everything appears wonderful.  They play the role very well.  No one knows what takes place behind close doors like God does.  In stead of comparing and praying for their life, thank God for the life He has blessed you with.

My brother, my sister, God is able to bless you in ways man could never (Ephesians 3:20).  While you desire to copy someone else’s life, God desires to bless you with your own.  Be careful in what you ask for.  The Bible declares in Exodus 20:17 - Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.  Beloved, Looks Can Be Deceiving!  Your friend’s smile could be fake.  Your supervisor’s nasty attitude could be a cover up for a broken heart.  Your co-worker’s constant staring could be his or her cry for someone to help.  Child of God, in stead of trying to be like Mike, why don’t you be the best YOU.  There is only one of you.  God did not make a carbon copy when He made you.  Be grateful today for the life and blessings you enjoy each day.  Prayer for Today: Father, help me be more appreciative for the awesome things you are doing in my life.  My life is an original work by Your hands.  Thank you for investing in me.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Who Are We Without The Lord?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  When was the last time you found yourself praising God for the little things He has done in your life?  For each morning He allowed your eyes to see.  Each meal He enabled you to enjoy.  The clothes you choose to wear each day.  When was the last time you told God how much you loved Him?  For the way He watches over you day in and day out.  How He protects you against the attacks and traps of the enemy.  The way He continues to allow your ends to meet even when you were unwise and undisciplined with your spending.  When was the last time you testified about the goodness of God to someone else?  For the doors He has opened in your life.  The many opportunities He has blessed you with.  The favor He has bestowed upon you.  The power and authority He put within you.  When was the last time you analyzed your life?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  So often in each of our lives, we become so preoccupied with our daily affairs until we forget our top priorities.  We often forget how we made it to where we are today.  If it had not been for the Lord on our side, we would have been swallowed up by the enemy (Psalms 124:1-2).  Seldom do we remember, each day, how patient and kind God has been toward us.  Think of the times God told you to do it one way and you did it another way.  My friend, Who Are We Without The Lord?  The Bible declares in Psalms 8:4 - What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that Thou visitest him?  How often do you really sit down and evaluate your life?  Do you understand the power of God’s love for you?  When everyone else gave up and walked away, it was the love of God that kept us from falling apart.  Many people wrote you off.  When you were in need of finances and food, many people ignored your plea.  But God!  It was Him who put your name on the mind of someone else.  It was the Lord who pricked the heart of someone else to bless you abundantly.  Who Are We Without The Lord?

My brother, my sister, what are you going through today?  What dilemma are you faced with this morning?  What situation or storm has your mind consumed?  What family member or friend has you worried?  Beloved, you must understand, if God did it before, He is able to do it again.  The Bible declares in Numbers 23:19 - God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?   Who Are We Without The Lord?  Child of God, we are nothing without the Lord.  Our very existence is controlled by the hand of God.  No matter what the enemy sends your way, your life is protected by the hand of God.  No hurt or harm can overtake you, when you are in the shadow of the Almighty (Psalms 91:1).  From this day, forward, it is time for you and me to live with the knowledge that we are nothing without the Lord.  Prayer for Today: Father, I am nothing without you.  Everything I am and everything I have belongs to you.  I fully commit myself to You for the glorifying of Your name.  I love You, in Jesus’ name … Amen!

Have You Forgotten How Blessed You Really Are?

Tuesday, November 24th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  I often wonder if we understand how blessed we really are.  Many times we forget to tell God thank you when we rise in the mornings.  We forget about those who lost their lives prior to that morning.  We often forget to bless God for the food we receive each day.  We forget about the people and families who go to bed hungry each night.  So often we enter and exit our doors at home without ever telling God how much we appreciate His provision and protection.  We forget about the people living in homeless shelters or on the streets, as well as the people who experienced burglary or assault the night before.  Have you told God thank you this morning?  Have you thanked our God for watching over you while sleeping last night?  Have you thanked our God for another day of life?  There are many people who rose out of bed with a fatal disease and illness, but they rose with praise on their lips and thanksgiving in their hearts.  What about you?  What’s on your lips or in your heart?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  How often do you forget to tell God thank you?  When our peers do something nice for us, or give us a nice gift, we instantly reply with a thank you.  When the Lord blesses us, we act as though He took to long to respond.  My friend, Have You Forgotten How Blessed You Really Are?  In the Old Testament times, when the people committed sins, the priest was the only one who could atone for their sins.  Read Leviticus 16:30.  The people did not have access to the presence of God like we do today.  There was a certain time and a certain way the priest could enter God’s presence to atone for the people’s sins.  But when Jesus gave His life on Calvary’s cross, He atoned for our sins once and for all.  Read Matthew 27:51.  Through the love of Jesus, we are now able to approach our Father in His name.  Have You Forgotten How Blessed You Really Are?  The Lord has been so good to us.  When we deserved to die, He spared our lives (mercy); and when we did not deserve it, He blessed us anyway (grace).  What a mighty God we serve.

My brother, my sister, I do not care what the enemy has attempted to do.  I do not care what others have said about you.  In spite of it all, you are blessed.  Read John 10:10.  The enemy is out to destroy us because he knows God has His hand on us.  Have You Forgotten How Blessed You Really Are?  Beloved, you owe the Lord a radical praise this morning.  A praise that comes out of your mouth.  Not just a hand clap, but a praise where words exit your mouth.  No longer are you allowed to say, “I praise God within.”  When you needed God to do something quick in your life, He blessed you openly (not in secret.)  Read Matthew 6:6.  My friend, you are a child of God.  You are amongst the promise generation.  You are apart of the Abrahamic covenant (Genesis 12:1-3).  Why?  Because, not what you did, but what Christ did for you.  Have You Forgotten How Blessed You Really Are?  Prayer for Today: Father, forgive me for ever taking You for granted.  Thank You for always watching over me.  I am blessed because You chose to bless me.  Today, I walk in it.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

You Can Make It Through The Dry Season

Monday, November 23rd, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever wanted to give up on life?  It seemed as though everything in life was going wrong for you.  It appeared as if everything you touched turned upside down.  You find yourself questioning yourself.  “Where have I gone wrong?”  “What have I done to deserve this?”  “Will it ever get better?”  Have you ever found yourself wondering how much more you could handle?  Just when you get one side nailed down, the other side popped up.  Your life appears as a roller coaster.  Up and down, down and up.  Are you at a point in your life where your surroundings appear unfamiliar?  Nothing nor no one can be recognized.  The old way of doing things no longer works for you.  What do you do now?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  What do you do when you want to walk away?  What do you do when you feel like giving up on life and your dreams?  What do you do when you stop believing in yourself?  My friend, You Can Make It Through The Dry Season.  No matter what the enemy has said to you, God can pull you through.  No matter what your peers believe, God can use you for greatness.  Read Lamentations 3:22-23.  Do you remember the many nights God comforted you?  Do you remember the days you worried about finances and your health?  It was the Lord who provided for you, as well as healed your body.  There are times when giving up seems easy to do.  There are times when walking away from the assignment God gave you becomes desirable.  Be that as it may, you are chosen by God.  You have been hand-selected by God Almighty.  You cannot quit.  You cannot bow to the enemy.

My brother, my sister, You Can Make It Through The Dry Season.  I know how it feels to become discouraged.  I know how it is to feel unappreciated.  In spite of it all, God has been faithful to us.  Yes it can become tiresome.  Yes it can be draining on your body.  Yes crying becomes regular.  Read Psalm 30:5  Beloved, your dry season is just a season.  It will not last always.  You will recover from this.  God did not choose you to leave you.  Do you still believe in the power of God?  Do you still know you are anointed?  A dry season cannot and will not overtake you, if you remember God is able.  You must remember the same God who pulled you out of the fire before, is the same God who can and will do it again. You Can Make It Through The Dry Season.  I challenge you today to never give up until you have completed the course.  If He is God enough to bring you to the storm, He is God enough to take you through it.  Prayer for Today: Father, help me trust and depend upon You when things seem impossible.  I know you are able to do the impossible.  I believe in you, in Jesus’ name … Amen!

Stop Apologizing Because You’re Blessed!

Friday, November 20th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever believed God for something so awesome that everyone around you thought it and you were crazy?  They could not understand how you really believed God would open a door that had never been opened before.  They could not believe you were fasting and praying for a miracle that others said was impossible.  They could not believe you were claiming and declaring healing in your body, even after the doctor said there was nothing else they could do.  Have you ever spent hours explaining your dreams to others but they still did not understand it or you?  You tried your best to explain it but the more you talked, the harder it was for them to see it.  Do you realize, God will prevent certain people from understanding your dreams?  He does this because everyone cannot be trusted or involved in the work He’s doing in you.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  When was the last time you attempted to tell family and friends about the word God spoke into your spirit?  When was the last time you tried to explain to others what God spoke to you?  Did they understand it?  Why do you feel the need to explain the blessings of God in your life to others?  If the truth were told, you really do not understand yourself.  You do not understand why God continues to bless you abundantly.  You have not been perfect.  You have fallen short on several occasions.  But God continues to pour out His spirit and favor on you.  My friend, Stop Apologizing Because You’re Blessed!  Stop allowing others to make you feel guilty because God chose you for such a time as this (Esther 4:14).  The Bible declares in Romans 8:31 - What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?  Who can stand against a chosen, changed, child of God?  While the enemy may set traps and snares against you, the purpose of God for your life will not allow the enemy’s plans to succeed.  God did not call you to be apologetic or to apologize on His behalf.

My brother, my sister, Stop Apologizing Because You’re Blessed!  When God chose to bless you, He made no mistake.  He knew exactly what He was doing.  While man overlooked you, God was looking directly at you.  While others had more education, God knew your heart.  There were many who studied and trained themselves for the opportunity, but God raised you up for the assignment.  The Bible declares in Psalms 1:1 - Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  Beloved, why do you feel the need to apologize?  Are you ashamed of the work God is doing within you?  Please do not.  Our Father saw something in you that was not in anyone else.  David was a man after God’s own heart, not because he was perfect, but because his heart longed to please the Lord (1 Samuel 13:14).  From this day forward, Stop Apologizing Because You’re Blessed!  Prayer for Today: Father, thank you for choosing me for such a time as this.  I am nothing without you, but I can do all things through you.  Have your way in me.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

God Has Healing Hands!

Thursday, November 19th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Are you dealing with a traumatic situation in your life?  Maybe a loved one has passed away, you just received a negative report from the doctor or your future dreams recently experienced a life-altering announcement.  Have you found yourself pressed between a rock and a hard place?  Life has placed your back against the wall.  You now find yourself stuck between the old way of doing things and the new call God has for you.  Has the doctor shown you a negative X-ray?  Has your place of employment issued you a heart throbbing e-mail.  Has your marriage hit a dry season?  Have your finances seemingly dried up?  Are you confused about the next step to take?  Has the words of your peers left a wound in your heart?  Have you found yourself battling loneliness because you committed yourself to the will of God?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  Many times people see you smiling on the outside but never realize you are breaking down within.  While you play the role in front of the crowd, inside you wonder if anyone will ever notice the pain and hurt you are experiencing.  There are nights filled with tears and occasions of moaning.  Have you ever been there?  Are you there now?  My friend, God Has Healing Hands!  He has hands that can heal whatever you are dealing with.  The Bible declares in Isaiah 53:5 - But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.  While we know God can heal sickness and diseases, many times we fail to realize He can also heal broken hearts, depression, fear, worry, debt and confused minds.  God is a God who specializes in the impossible.  The pain you feel today is minor to the power our Father possesses.  The Bible declares in John 11:4 - When Jesus heard that, He said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

My brother, my sister, God Has Healing Hands!  He has hands that can heal what man never notices.  He has hands that can mend what the world left broken.  He has hands that can change what the doctor gave up on.  He has hands that can fix what you thought was broke.  What are you feeling today?  What report has your doctor issued?  What pain has your past relationships and past friendships left upon you?  Have you asked God to heal you from the inside, out.  The Bible declares in 3 John 1:2 - Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.  Beloved, you must understand healing starts within.  It starts where only God can go.  God Has Healing Hands!  Child of God, you do not have to live with past hurts and pains.  Your disease does not have to control your days.  Do you realize that at the name of Jesus every knee must bow and every tongue must confess (Philippians 2:10)?  There is only one name you need to call upon to experience the fullness God has for you.  That name is … JESUS!  Prayer for Today: Father, today I ask that you heal me from the inside, out.  Heal me at the root.  I know you can and I know you will.  I declare it done in Jesus’ name … Amen!

God Is A Holy God!

Wednesday, November 18th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Are you aware of the goodness of God?  Have you ever experienced His goodness in your life?  Have you ever told anyone about how good God has been to you?  So often in our lives, we experience the excellent greatness of God but we act as if we deserve the blessings we receive.  Just because we treat others right does not mean God owes us eternal life.  We are set for Heaven, not because we sing in the choir, usher people to their seats, give an offering or preach powerful sermons.  We are set for heaven because Jesus gave His life for you and me and we have confessed our belief in Him.  It is through His sacrifice we are able to enter into Heaven’s gates.  You were aware of this … right?  You did not think it was because of any goodness of your own … did you?  When we confess(ed) Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we inherit(ed) an eternal life that man could not offer.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  The Lord wants me to tell you something of great importance.  My friend, God Is A Holy God!  In spite of all the wrong we have done in our lives, He is still holy.  Whether I walk upright or not, He is still holy.  Whether CNN broadcast it around the world or not, He is still holy.  The Bible declares in 1 Peter 1:16 - Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.  The Lord’s holiness does not depend upon my acknowledgment of Him.  If man refuses to praise God for His holiness, He will cause the rocks to praise Him in our place.  Why?  Because God Is A Holy God!  The Bible declares in 1 Peter 1:15 - But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;  Today, how are you carrying yourself?  How are you treating other people?  How are you displaying Christ in your life?  Can family and friends see the glory of God resting upon your life?  Child of God, if our Father is Holy what are we called to be?

My brother, my sister, God does not want you to be so holy that you are no earthly good.  He does not want you to become a distraction to other believers.  He is calling us to be sanctified (to be set apart) (John 17:19).  He desires for us to be a light for the people walking in darkness.  God Is A Holy God!  The Bible declares in Psalms 99:5 - Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at His footstool; for He is holy.  Beloved, if we walk after the things of God, many will see the power of God residing within us.  Have you ever thought of God being holy?  Have you ever experienced the Lord’s holiness?  I say you have.  The reason you are alive today, is because God’s holiness overtook the enemy’s evilness.  The Bible declares in Psalms 103:1Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name.  God Is A Holy God!  Now that you know God is holy, live your life accordingly.  Prayer for Today: Father, I thank you for your Holiness.  You are God and beside you there is none other.  Today, help me live a life that pleases you.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Don’t Let Your Brother (Sister) Fall!

Tuesday, November 17th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever found yourself faced with a very tough decision?  The decision weighed heavy on your mind.  The outcome would not be appreciated by everyone but you knew it was necessary.  Many would walk away in disbelief, while others would encourage you.  Have you ever had to sit down with a friend or family member and correct them in love?  You watched the direction they were heading in and the Lord pricked your heart to go to them.  Along the way, you noticed their walk and talk were not complimenting each other.  As uncomfortable as it may have felt, you knew the Lord was telling you to approach him or her.  Have you ever saw someone changing for the worse?  As time went on, (s)he began to behave in ways that were unpleasing to the Lord.  (S)He began to engage in activities that (s)he knew was wrong.  Are you that person?  Do you know that person?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  Today, we live in a world where wrong is considered right and right is considered wrong.  The commandments of God have been overlooked by the laws developed through man (Matthew 15:6).  Many friends and family members have gone astray because of unfulfilled promises made by the enemy.  Some have become shackled down by their mistakes or the judgments of ‘church folk.’   My friend, Don’t Let Your Brother (Sister) Fall!  The Bible declares in Matthew 18:15 - Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.  So often we watch our brothers and sisters falling before us but we do not feel compelled to prevent it from happening.  What if it were you?  Would you want someone to help you back to your feet?  Do you not know that we are responsible for one another?  The same God who forgave your sins, is the same God who can forgive your brother or sister’s sins.

My brother, my sister, Don’t Let Your Brother (Sister) Fall!  Do not turn your back and attempt to ignore the sin which consumes him or her.  The Lord positioned you there for a specific reason.  Do not wait until after (s)he falls, if you know it could have been prevented.  The Bible declares in Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.  Beloved, we have a charge to keep and a God to glorify.  Have you forsaken your brother or sister?  Have you consumed yourself with selfish desires and overlooked the needs of those around you?  Have you become self-centered in stead of God-centered?  Are you upset with me because there are so many questions?  Don’t Let Your Brother (Sister) Fall!  It is time for us, the body of Christ, to restore our brothers and sisters back to the fold.  Gossiping destroys the family God has built.  Prayer for Today: Father, today help me to help my brother or sister.  Strengthen me that I may strengthen them.  I vow to not let them fall.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

He Is Still God Enough Now!

Monday, November 16th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever felt as if you were walking through life alone?  It appeared like no one was around to walk with you or care enough to notice you.  Have you ever stumbled and fell but no one was there to help you get back up again?  You desired to get up, but you needed assistance.  You cried out for help but no one took the time to acknowledge you.  Have you ever been identified by your sin not your purpose?  No matter how effective you have been for the Lord, when you make one mistake, the people remember that more than anything else you have done.  You have admitted what you did wrong, but they refuse to accept it.  Have you ever found yourself trying to explain why God’s blessing you to other people?  Since God has bestowed His favor upon your life, now you spend your days apologizing to people who cannot understand why God is doing what He is doing.  Have you ever felt to weak to walk and to tired to talk?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  The Lord spoke to me this morning in an unusual way.  In stead of doing the devotional the same way this morning, He told me to send you the below poem by Mary Stevenson.  My friend, just in case you have forgotten, it was the Lord who carried you through your storm.  What are you going through today?  What are you faced with this morning?  What dilemma do you find yourself engaged in?  Beloved, if He was God enough before, He Is Still God Enough Now!

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there was one only.
This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from anguish,
sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints,
so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there has only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied,
“The years when you have seen only one set of footprints,
my child, is when I carried you.”
