You Must First Love Yourself!

Friday, October 30th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth! who hast set Thy glory above the heavens. (Psalms 8:1)  Have you ever awaken to a new day but your mind was still pondering the day before?  There were mistakes you made and decisions you forgot to finalize.  There were calls you failed to return and commitments you did not fulfill.  Have you ever spent your weekend worrying about work and assignments you must complete the following week?  On Friday you are worrying about Monday.  You spend Saturday and Sunday beating yourself up because there were things you wanted to achieve the week before.  Do you spend your days stressed out?  Do you spend your days trying to gain the acceptance of your co-workers?  Are you trying to buy friends?  Are you happy with who you are?  Do you love you?  Hmmmmmm

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  My friend, You Must First Love Yourself!  Many times in life, we attempt to find love in the arms of someone else.  We find ourselves looking for love in all the wrong places.  When you look at yourself in the mirror, do you love what you see?  Are you ashamed of your appearance?  Are you wearing a mask to hide the person God made you to be?  You do realize you cannot run from yourself?  You see you more than we see you.  The Bible declares in Mark 12:31 - And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.  The Word of God requires for us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.  The question is, do you love yourself?  If you do not love who you are, how can you truly love someone else?  You Must First Love Yourself!  When you start loving yourself, you grow to a point where the approval of others no longer matters to you.  You begin to love others because you love yourself.

My brother, my sister, do you know that God loves you?  Are you living with the assurance that God loves you?  The Bible declares in John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  Beloved, You Must First Love Yourself!  What sin have you committed that prevents you from loving yourself again?  What past hurt hinders you from moving forward in the love of the Lord?  Who have you failed when it was time to show them love?  The Bible declares in Luke 10:27 - And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.  You Must First Love Yourself!  Prayer for Today: Father, today I thank you that I have learned how to love myself.  I am able to love me because you first loved me.  Now Lord, teach me how to love others.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Today’s Going To Be A Brighter Day!

Thursday, October 29th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever had long nights of despair and distress?  Nights that seemed to never end.  Nights filled with tears and heartaches.  Nights of loneliness and isolation.  Nights of fear and horror.  Nights of abuse and neglect.  Have you ever found yourself walking the floors worrying about the outcome of a matter that was out of your control?  You could not change the result but you still worried yourself sick about it.  You knew God would take care of it, but you still pondered the pros and cons.  Have you ever prayed in fear?  You were up against a challenge or threat.  You were caught doing what you knew was displeasing to the Lord.  The doctors called and asked that you come to their office in the morning.  Have you ever sat on the edge of your bed fighting back tears?  Your child is running the streets.  Your job is in jeopardy.  Your finances are funny but you are not laughing.  Have you been there?  Are you there now?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  During your darkest days and nights, the Lord was present with you.  It was His arms that brought comfort to you.  It was His peace that cleared your mind.  It was His love that upheld you.  Today may not be as you wanted it to be.  Attacks may have come against you and your family.  Rumors and lies could have been spread against you.  My friend, Today’s Going To Be A Brighter Day!  Many times we say you are next in line for a miracle, that is true, but today I also believe things will be brighter than they were yesterday.  The Bible declares in Psalms 84:11 - For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.  As a child of the Most High God, you are assured of great things.  While there will be times of trouble (Job 14:1), God is more than enough.  He is able to be whatever you need Him to be, when you need Him to be it.  Do you believe Today’s Going To Be A Brighter Day?  I do!

My brother, my sister, what situation or circumstance prevents you from believing things will be brighter and better today?  What person, place or thing hinders you from seeing the sun shine again?  What dilemma or matter are you allowing to keep you bound?  The Bible declares in Psalms 72:17 - His name shall endure for ever: His name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in Him: all nations shall call him blessed.  Today’s Going To Be A Brighter Day!  Beloved, God did not form you to live shackled.  He did not purpose you to walk in depression.  The enemy desires to keep you in darkness.  He desires to keep your eyes close to the light shining ahead.  This morning, did you awake with an attitude of excitement or anger?  It matters not how bad you think it is, do you believe your God is greater than your storm (1 John 4:4)?  Do you believe God controls all things?  You are destined for brighter days.  Walk in them.  Prayer for Today: Father, allow me to focus my attention on you and not my situations.  When I do this, I can see the brighter days you created for me.  In Jesus name … Amen!

Life Goes Beyond Fancy Cliches!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever lost something you worked hard for?  As a result of mismanagement, a lack of wisdom, or unforeseen circumstances, you lost something special to you.  Have you ever had to endure storms in your life?  Just as hurricanes and tornadoes come through Florida (where I live), “hell” storms have come through your life.  As a result, the damages cannot be calculated but they can be seen and felt.  Have you ever had joy today and overnight it seemed as though everything changed?  Due to an unexpected phone call or a negative doctor report, you are now searching for the joy you once had.  So often in our lives, we plan for the successes.  We know what we would do with a new promotion, or new car, or new home.  We dream of these things.  But what do you do when the unexpected catches you off guard?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  No one ever wants to think about tragedy hitting their home or family.  We never fathom how it would feel if we received that one phone call that changes everything.  Never do we imagine life without a certain person beside us.  But what do you when the unexpected catches you off guard?  How do you react to the announcement of death or disease?  What do you say to the mother or father who just lost their only child?  My friend, Life Goes Beyond Fancy Cliches!  Life goes beyond the traditional ways of doing things.  We must grow beyond our fancy words and display our Godly love.  The Bible declares in Romans 5:8 - But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Do you know someone who has suffered loss?  Have you attempted to assist them with your time, talents and/or treasures?  Have you picked up the phone to check on them?

My brother, my sister, Life Goes Beyond Fancy Cliches!  We are living in a time when people are suffering.  A time when the next meal is a mystery to many.  People do not want to hear your sermons if they cannot feel your sermon.  The Bible declares in 1 John 3:17 - But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?  Beloved, we must return to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We must return to the time of focusing on ministry not money or membership.  The world is in need of Jesus.  We must become walking, talking Bibles.  Dear friend, who has God told you to help?  Who are you angry with today?  Are you trying to keep everything for yourself?  The Bible declares in Luke 12:20 - But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?   Life Goes Beyond Fancy Cliches!  Today, offer more of your Godly actions and less of your fancy sayings.  Prayer for Today: Father, help me go beyond my fancy cliches and begin to minister to through my love and action.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Who Needs A Second Chance?

Monday, October 26th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever had someone offend you?  Either their words or their actions really hurt your feelings.  With no regret or guilt, this individual hurt your feelings and walked off as if nothing wrong occurred.  Have you ever offended someone?  Without thinking twice, you said the first thing that came into your mind.  After saying it, you knew it was wrong but you refused to apologize.  When was the last time you accepted someone’s plea for forgiveness?  The individual who hurt you has not asked for your forgiveness and hand of mercy.  Have you forgiven them?  Are you still harboring animosity toward someone or about something?  Do you not know that uncontrolled anger will lead you to sin?  The Word of God says, “Father forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.” (Matthew 6:12)

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  Are you aware that the forgiveness you seek from the Father comes after you have forgiven the one who asked your forgiveness?  Many times we think by smiling and acting as though everything is okay it pleases the Lord.  Forgiveness is an action not a hidden secret.  It requires you to step out of your flesh and self.  My friend, Who Needs A Second Chance?  Who are you angry with?  Has your behavior changed because you have housed this bitterness?  The enemy desires to shackle you down through your pride.  The Bible declares in Matthew 6:14 - For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:  Each person, at one point in their life, stands in need of God’s merciful forgiveness.  Each day we come up short in one way or another (Romans 3:23).  The thing we said we would never do, we find ourselves doing it again (Romans 7).  But each time, God is willing to forgive us our sins.  Who Needs A Second Chance?

My brother, my sister, you will never experience true peace until you release the anger you have on the inside.  Put yourself in the position of a person needing someone else’s forgiveness.  Would you expect them to forgive you?  Would you understand if they did not?  The Bible declares in Mark 11:26 - But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.  Beloved, Who Needs A Second Chance?  What if the Lord treated us the way we treat others when they seek forgiveness?  What if God turned His back on us the way we turn our backs on others?  The Bible declares in Matthew 5:23-24 - Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.  Child of God, Who Needs A Second Chance?  Since the Lord has given you a second chance, do you owe someone else a second chance?  Prayer for Today: Father, forgive me for not forgiving my brother or sister.  When I was in need of forgiveness, you forgave.  Today, I will forgive those who asked for my forgiveness.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

You Don’t Know My Story, What You See Is God’s Glory!

Friday, October 23rd, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Do you realize how blessed you are?  In spite of the troubles, heartaches and pains, the Lord has always been there to watch over us.  Do you know that the Lord is so good?  I mean so good.  Even when you were deep in sin, His goodness allowed Him to surround us with unconditional love.  When the enemy tried to prove our guilt, it was the Lord who pleaded our case.  Have you noticed how far the Lord has brought you?  Just think about the things you were doing before you committed yourself to His will.  Think about the places you visited regularly, or the people you hung around.  God is so good to us.  Knowing how ungrateful we can be at times, He still continuously blesses us.  Do you appreciate the Lord this morning?  Are you glad that there is life still in your body?  Are you allowing anger and bitterness to suck the life out of your days?

This morning, I am commissioned to come and minister to you.  My friend, You Don’t Know My Story, What You See Is God’s Glory!  So often in our lives, we meet people who applaud us for where we are in our lives.  Every time you see them, (s)he always wants you to sing a song, tell a joke, pray a prayer, preach a sermon, or share your testimony.  While that is fine, many people were not around when you were going through your breakdowns and let-downs.  What they see today is the glory of God upon you.  Many people do not know the price you have paid for the anointing you display.   They do not understand how/why you shout and praise God all the time.  The Bible declares in Psalms 46:1 - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. You Don’t Know My Story, What You See Is God’s Glory!  You must beware of people who try to come in your life after you have endured testing and trying.  You must be careful with who you allow to speak into your ear.  It was the Lord who brought you through the ‘hell’ in your life.

My brother, my sister, its not that you are arrogant or acting holier than someone else.  Its not that you think others are beneath you.  But you have been through enough in your life to declare that you are not going back there anymore.  The Bible declares in Psalms 40:2 - He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.  The passion people see in your eyes is the glory of God.  The love you display to everyone is the glory of God.  The favor you enjoy in your life is the glory of God.  You Don’t Know My Story, What You See Is God’s Glory!  Stop apologizing because God is using you.  There was a refining process God took you through.  Stop allowing people to discourage what the Lord has spoken in your life.  What man does not understand, man questions and judges.  Beloved, God brought you so that He could use you for this time.  Do not go back in what the Lord took you out of.  Live free in the Lord.  There’s a story to compliment God’s glory.  Prayer for Today: Father, I want to thank you for everything you brought me out of.  I have a story behind the glory.  I honor you today.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

It Does Not Work That Way!

Thursday, October 22nd, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Life is so amazing.  You work so hard to achieve so many wonderful things, only to get them and realize its not what you thought it was.  You work night and day to obtain the applauds of man, but along the way you compromised your relationship with the Lord.  Have you ever found yourself doing what you said you would never do?  Have you ever found yourself saying what you thought you would never say?  Have you ever found yourself acting in a way that is outside of your character?  So often we do what we normally would not, we say what we usually would not, and we act in ways that are uncommon because we desire to please everyone we meet.  We often say, “If they accept me, I will feel better.”  This is an untruthful statement.  No matter how hard you work, there will always be someone who disapproves.  Think about it …

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  When was the last time you attempted to adapt to the ways of your friends?  When was the last time you did what you knew was unpleasing to the Lord?  Why did you do it?  After you did what you did, how did you feel?  There comes a time, in each of our lives, when we must choose who we will serve.  A person who confesses Christ, but lives for friends is a hypocrite (Matthew 6:24).  My friend, It Does Not Work That Way!  God will never allow you to abuse His blessings because you want to impress others.  The Bible declares in Exodus 32:26 - … Who is on the Lord’s side? let him come unto me …  How often do you say, “if you get me out of this, I will never do it again?”  How often do you do it again?  Do you realize how much the Lord really loves you?  He knows before you say it, that you will do it again.  In spite of it, He still loves you.  How many people do you know like this?

My brother, my sister, the world we live in is fickle.  People love you because of what they believe you can do for them.  If you have nothing to offer, people do not want you near them.  But God!  When the Lord chose you, He knew you had limitations.  Why is it that we call on the Lord only in trouble, when He wants to be there always?  It Does Not Work That Way!  God desires daily fellowship with you.  The Bible declares in Proverbs 8:17 - I love them that love me; and those that seek Me early shall find Me.  Beloved, are you trying to live without God’s guidance and protection?  Do you think you can handle it alone?  Are you deceiving yourself?  It Does Not Work That Way!  Child of God, the answer you need is found in the Lord.  The guidance you seek comes through the Lord.  The void in your life can be filled by the Lord.   Prayer for Today: Father, I realize confessing you but living for others does not work.  You have been faithful from day one.  I belong to you.  Thank you for all you do.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Your Miracle Is In Your Faith

Tuesday, October 20th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever found yourself in need of immediate assistance?  Everywhere you looked something was going wrong.  Have you ever woke up in a place of discomfort?  When you went to bed the night before, everything was going well.  When you woke up the next morning, everything seemed totally different.  Have you ever experienced a season of loneliness?  When others were in need you were there, but now that you are in need no one is there to assist you.  Have you ever received a deadly report from your physician?  Just when you were preparing to live again, they now want you to prepare for death.  Have you ever needed God to intervene NOW?  You felt as though your situation could not wait any longer.  Have you been there?  Are you there now?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  There comes a time in each of our lives, when we stand in need of a miracle.  There comes a time when God’s intervention is the only way out.  No person, no place or no thing can assist you.  My friend, Your Miracle Is In Your Faith.  Many people never understand how important faith is in the life of a Believer.  Faith allows you to believe what no one else believes.  Faith allows you to see what no one else can see.  The Bible declares in Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  When you find yourself in need of a miracle, you have to develop a persevering attitude.  You must get to a point where you will not give up until you have what you are in need of.  The Bible declares in Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.  Your Miracle Is In Your Faith.

My brother, my sister, are you currently in need of a miracle in your life?  Do you need an immediate turn around in your life?  Are you believing God for something that sounds crazy to those around you?  Your Miracle Is In Your Faith.  Your miracle is not predicated on what your family or friends believe.  It is not determined by the amount of people you know.  The Bible declares in Romans 10:17 - So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.  Since your miracle depends on your faith in God and your faith comes by hearing the word of God, then you must learn how to speak (loudly) the word of God.  Your Miracle Is In Your Faith.  It matters not if momma or daddy understands.  Your miracle is possible.  The Bible declares in Luke 18:27 - And He said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.  Beloved, do not wait for someone else.  Prayer for Today: Father, today I stand on Your word and I believe there is nothing too hard for you.  In knowing this, I have faith in you.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

“Lord, I Thank You!”

Monday, October 19th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  When was the last time you put your pride aside to assist someone in need?  So often during our daily journey we encounter people who need an encouraging word, or a nice friendly smile, or a listening ear.  When was the last time you used your blessings to bless someone else?  You do realize what the Lord gave to you is not for you alone … right?  God will send blessings to you that they may go through you for someone else.  When was the last time you told your friends and family ‘Thank You?’  You thanked them for being who they are in your life.  You thanked them for uplifting you in prayer.  You thanked them for never giving up on you.  When was the last time you looked up to heaven and offered God an awesome praise?  A praise from deep down within.  A praise of gratitude, appreciation and thanksgiving.

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  Think about all you have been through in your life.  Think about the roller coaster ride you experienced while dating certain people.  Think about the despair and discouraging nights you endured.  Think about the many tears you cried or the love ones you buried.  After all you have been through in life, the Lord has still been faithful.  My friend, when was the last time you said, “Lord, I Thank You!”  The Bible declares in Psalms 100:4 - Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.  It was the Lord who stood by you when depression and loneliness attempted to consume your body.  It was the Lord who defended you against the warfare of the enemy.  It was the Lord who protected you against the traps sent to destroy you.  You need to open your mouth this morning and say, “Lord, I Thank You!”  The Bible declares in Psalms 69:30 - I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.

My brother, my sister, having friends is a wonderful blessing.  Having family is even better;  But to know that the Lord is faithfully watching over you is overwhelming.  Friends and family come and go.  Depending on how they feel will determine if they help you out or not.  If things are going well for them, their wonderful to be around.  If not, their the last person you want to surround yourself with.  Not the Lord.  The Bible declares in Lamentations 3:22-23 - It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.  “Lord, I Thank You!”  I thank you for loving me when I did not love myself.  I thank you for putting up with my multiple attitudes.  I thank you for sending your only begotten Son to die for my sins.  Thank you for teaching me how to love others.  Beloved, when was the last time you made the time to tell the Lord thank you?  When was the last time you expressed your gratitude to the Lord?  I charge you, start right now.  Prayer for Today: Father, I come this morning to tell you thank you.  I love and truly appreciate You.  In Jesus’ name … Amen!

Whatever Happened To Unity?

Friday, October 16th, 2015

It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God.  Have you ever watched a family member die in your presence and the family argued the entire time?  You watched their body go through changes that you could not change.  Have you ever experienced hell on earth?  It seemed as though everything was on a downward spiral.  Have you ever been falsely accused by another Believer.  They took your service and placed it on trial through lies and deceit.  Do you ever wonder why people enjoy causing chaos and confusion?  No matter what goes on that person always finds something to complain about.  Can you relate to any of these questions?  Does this sound like anyone you know?  Does this sound like you?

This morning, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you.  My friend, Whatever Happened To Unity?  Whatever happened to One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism?  We are surrounded [today] by a family of Believers who desire to compete and compare with others.  No longer willing to share with the less fortunate.  No longer willing to fellowship with other races.  Close-minded!  The Bible declares in Psalms 133:1 - Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!  How can we sing about heaven, which is full of God’s glory and love, but not get along with each other … God’s creation.  The Bible declares in 1 John 4:20 - If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?  Whatever Happened To Unity?

My brother, my sister, we are one body serving One Lord.  Many debate whether Christ was black or white.  We attempt to use scripture to defend our answers.  That matters not.  What matters is that His blood was red.  It was His blood, not His skin, that covered my sins.  Whatever Happened To Unity?  The Bible declares in 1 John 2:11 - But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.  It’s a new day.  We must begin to change our mindset.  We must evaluate ourselves.  What can you do to make things better for others?  Who can you assist?  Does your job lack unity?  Does your home and marriage lack unity.  Does your church lack unity?  The Bible declares in Matthew 18:19 - Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.  Thought to Remember: Where there is no unity, there is division.
